About the Event
The Camino de Santiago is a pilgrimage route to the supposed tomb of St. James in Santiago in NW Spain. First walked in 910 AD, numbers dwindled in the early 20th century but it has become increasingly popular since about 1990 and there are now a number of routes, all ending in Santiago. My wife and I have walked the two major routes (Camino francés and Camino portugués) and this talk aims to give a flavour of the history, the routes, the reasons why people do it, and the experiences to be had along the way.
