A celebration of storytelling, theatre and community in the heart of West Devon.

Chapel Barn’s annual theatre festival returns bigger and better than ever, with four new shows created by South-West based theatre companies, performed in an intimate converted barn theatre space.

COMEDY: Cavalier! – Friday 19th June, 7:30pm

England is divided. Parliament’s a mess. Religious fear is driving the country apart. After more and more scandals, growing numbers of people want the royals out of the picture. It’s 1642, or thereabouts – the beginning of the Civil War (the English one) and things must come to a head! A hilarious, interactive historical comedy brought to you by i.e. theatre.

DRAMA: The Well of Loneliness – Saturday 20th June, 7:30pm

A coming of age story about Stephen, a girl with a boy’s name, and their search for love and belonging in Edwardian Britain. Radclyffe Hall’s scandalous queer classic novel “The Well of Loneliness” comes to life like never before in an imaginative, contemporary stage production, adapted by award-winning director Selwin Hulme-Teague.

CHILDREN & FAMILIES: The Thing About Goats – Sunday 21st June, 2:30pm

Goats, mice, cheese and bellringing combine in mountainside mayhem at a puppet picnic. Join him as he tries to restore order, and discovers how we can all work together in harmony. Beautiful puppets and bellringing come together in a participatory romp for all the family.

COMEDY: The Dame Show – Sunday 21st June, 6:45pm

A bold new theatre show masquerading as a TV game show, tackling women’s health with humour and honesty. Inspired by real stories and research, The Dame Show centres women’s voices – hilarious, heartbreaking and eye-opening. Expect laughs, shocks and outrageous props, all while changing the conversation.
