Drake’s Trail

This is part of the National Cycle Network Route 27 and runs 21 miles southwards to Plymouth, much of the trail using the old railway track between Tavistock and the city.

The trail crosses open moorland, snakes through steep wooded valleys and takes in Grenofen Tunnel, built by the famous Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It also crosses Gem Bridge, the stunning new crossing over the River Walkham.

There are opportunities for refreshments near the tunnel and at Yelverton.
