Walking Tour – Use & Control of Water

Ever since the first occupation of Tavistock there was and is a requirement for the provision of water for consumption, industrial use and for disposal of waste. Join Sharon Gedye on this town walk which explores the sites of historic water courses and their various placement within the town via wells, leats, conduits and pipes and how water was stored and distributed for use as drinking water, for mills an breweries etc and eventual use for disposal via a managed sewerage system. This 90 minute, predominantly flat walk covers approximately 1.5 miles.
The walk commences at 2pm from outside the Tavistock Visitor Information Centre in Guildhall Square and lasts for 90 minutes.
