This 90 minute, predominantly flat walk over approximately 1 mile will take you on a journey through ten centuries, revealing Abbey and Churches, Mineral Mining and the Industrial Revolution, the building of the Canal and Railways and the influence of the Dukes of Bedford, which can be seen almost everywhere you look! Today the town retains much of its built heritage and prides itself on being England’s premier market town. The walk commences at 2pm from outside the Tavistock Visitor Information Centre in Guildhall Square and lasts for 90 minutes. Tickets are £5 per person

    Courtroom Talk - Lundy - a Landmark 50 Years Join Simon Dell for an illustrated talk entitled "Lundy - a Landmark 50 Years". Talk starts at 7pm, with doors opening at 6:45pm in the Courtroom. It is free to attend, although donations to the Guildhall Heritage Centre are always welcome.

    Described by some historians as the wealthiest abbey in the Southwest, Tavistock Abbey acted as a religious and administrative centre to the region for some 578 years. Its links to the monarchy gave its abbots powers which were not always well used and its unusual layout has yet to be fully understood. This walk, with Sue Spackman, explores the abbey's remains and what we know about its history. A flat walk of approx 90 minutes covering less than 1 mile in length in the heart of Tavistock town. The walk commences at 2pm from outside the Tavistock Visitor Information Centre in Guildhall Square and lasts for 90 minutes. Tickets are £5 per person

    Ever since the first occupation of Tavistock there was and is a requirement for the provision of water for consumption, industrial use and for disposal of waste. Join Sharon Gedye on this town walk which explores the sites of historic water courses and their various placement within the town via wells, leats, conduits and pipes and how water was stored and distributed for use as drinking water, for mills an breweries etc and eventual use for disposal via a managed sewerage system.
